Lightning The following precautions can be taken to reduce the risk of damage to you and your family and home and contents, if lightning strikes: · Stay inside during lightning and thunderstorms · Disconnect TVs/DVDs, stereo equipment, computers, and ancillary equipment and fax machines from their power points and aerials when hard-wired. · Fit surge protection equipment to all plug-in electronic and household appliances · Do not use the land line phone or mobile phone. If lightning occurs frequently, consider a lightning protection system. It is wise to check home and contents for damage following a lightning strike near your home or after a severe storm. The check should be carried out only when it is considered safe to do so and should include identifying damage to: · Roofs, walls or windows due to fallen branches struck by lightning
